I heard an interesting message from Dr. Tim Keller on “what makes Christianity different”.  True Christians have acknowledged that they are sinners, in need of a Savior.  They know they are fallen, and in need of God’s love and grace. To those that are willing to admit this, and invite Him into their heart to make them into new creations, God responds with open loving arms.

But so many of us who call ourselves “Christians” are not willing to admit we are sinners, in need of a Savior.  We are operating on an incorrect set of premises – that somehow our “good works” are the things which make us right before God. We actually believe we are “a good chap” in our core being, and that we only have to work a little harder to get rid of a few flaws.  We are really so much better than the next fellow.

Woah!  Danger signal here!

Is this what God’s Word teaches us?  Was this what Jesus taught?  No!  It says “the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked – who can know it?”, and “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”, and further that “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”  “There is none that doeth good, no not one”.  In fact, Jesus said “There is one Good, and that is God.”

Christianity is the largest faith in the world, but it has a big problem.  But also the solution – the gospel, the “good news” gets at the core issue.  Listen in:
