After over 3 and a half years of battling brain cancer, our daughter Sarah has been miraculously freed from this evil disease!

Ten weeks ago her clinical trial ended at Hoag Hospital, and she was told she would be switched to new doctors at the City of Hope. The last scans they did showed the cancer had spread to her neck and spine. After leaving Hoag, she had no treatments for 10 week! We all though, this is incredible – no treatments for 10 weeks?! We all thought, the worst is yet to come. But she stayed strong in the Lord believing that the Lord would still heal her.

We all continued to pray daily.. my family, our small group, and many others. We had been praying for 3 1/2 years, but now we were crying out to God – please don’t let this cancer spread any more! Please wipe it out Lord!

On Monday May 6th she went in to see her new doctors at City of Hope. They looked at the scans they received from Hoag, and they saw from those scans that the cancer had spread.

They told Sarah, we do things differently here. We are going to run our own tests, CAT scans, blood work, and go from there. On Tuesday Sarah went in to the City of Hope, and they ran new tests and scans for 4 hours to see how bad the cancer was before taking over. Sarah and we were encouraged, since it was obvious now they were going to waste no time to get to work. We were hopeful.

But we received a big surprise on Wednesday.

Wednesday morning the lead doctor called my daughter. She thought, ‘be strong, here comes the bad news’.

But instead the lead doctor says, “I can’t explain what happened. The blood work, the scans, they all show that there is NO cancer to be found!”

He told her this is “not humanly possible”. The cancer was gone, disappeared, and the medical team there couldn’t explain it. In her joking manner, Sarah replied: “Oh, you mean God did all the heavy lifting?”

Sarah had tears of joy, and so did we when we heard the good news. We have been praying for over 3 1/2 years to the Lord that He would heal her in such a way so that all would know that although medicine and doctors have helped, it was the Lord that drove out the cancer. That when this happened, they would be amazed.

And He did just that! He heard our prayers, and delivered us! He healed her in a way only He could do. The doctors had the scans and blood work from Hoag, and proceeded to do their own battery of tests – and the cancer was not in her brain, her neck, her spine, or anywhere else! Although the City of Hope is a fantastic organization, and God certainly uses their doctors, medicine, and skills to facilitate the healing of many, they did not even get the chance in this case! The doctors remarked “We are baffled“.

After calling us, Sarah called the pastor at Calvary Chapel Mission Viejo to tell her pastor the good news. He and his stall were all in a meeting, so she drove down to the church office and barged in, saying “You won’t believe it, but the Lord healed me of cancer!” The pastor and everyone in the meeting were baffled, and asked her to sit and tell them the whole story. They asked her to also share it with the whole church that coming Sunday, which she did.

God doesn’t always heal, and I think we all know that. But He does hear our prayers, And He decides if and when to heal. We know that Paul the apostle prayed three times for his “thorn in the flesh” to be healed. And God heard his prayers, but answered ““My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Paul’s response: “most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me:” (2 Cor 12:9)

We have an Almighty God, and nothing is impossible for Him. He could heal all upon every request, But He is also sovereign. He doesn’t always heal, since for some His strength is made more perfect in weakness (as in the case of Paul). In some cases, the saint is not healed. But God hears their prayers, and uses them mightily to be a witness for Him, encouraging others who are struggled with infirmities or disabilities. The world sees these saints, and wonders – how could they have this disability, and yet be so full of joy? Do they have something I don’t?

Other times He doesn’t heal right away, but when the time is right – as in the case of Sarah. God heard our prayers, for 3 1/2 years no less, and just when we though all was lost, and the new doctors stepped in – that is when the healing took place. So that all would know that it was a true miracle!

And lets remember, in any case, our life here in this world is but a moment, a vapor, compared to the eternal life full of joy those who believe will inherit. And all who believe and are saved will one day inherit new heavenly bodies, for the Bible declares “for this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.” (1 Cor 15:53)

Postscript – July 2024

Sarah remains fully healed of cancer, and is now on remission treatment. She is very thankful, as are we the parents, her children, and friends. She shares her story with friends, and anyone who needs encouragement regarding an infirmity. Her teen age children feel a giant burden has been lifted, as we do, and are so very thankful. We truly have an awesome God!
